LG to bring KnockOn to L-series II phones, also pre-load in future devices

LG has announced that it will be releasing a maintenance update for L-series II devices next month, bringing the KnockOn feature to the smartphone. KnockOn, which is now known simple as Knock, allows users to wake up their smartphone from sleep by simply tapping two times on the smartphone display.

LG Knock was first introduced in LG G2 smartphone and later expanded to G Pad 8.3 tablet and G Flex smartphone. The company has also revealed that all of its future key mobile devices will have Knock built in.

“Knock is distinctively an LG UX and a great example of what happens when you marry the latest in mobile technology with consumer-centric insights,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Electronics’ Mobile Communications Company, “No one ever thought that a power button needed to be improved until our engineers wondered why they couldn’t turn the entire screen into a power button.”

LG has not revealed the timeline of the Knock update for L-series II smartphone but we expect to hear something very soon, most probably at CES 2014, which starts on January 7 in 2014 at Las Vegas.
