Android 4.4.2 update rolling out to Nexus devices

Within days of Android 4.4.1 update release, Google has started rolling-out Android 4.4.2 update for Nexus devices earlier today. The update is now available over-the-air and will reach the smartphones and tablets over the next few days.

The Nexus smartphones and tablets, which haven’t received Android 4.4.1 update until now will get updated directly to Android 4.4.2. Others will get a smaller update with just Android 4.4.2 changes.

Google has not revealed a change-log for this update but US telecom operator Sprint has noted that this update comes with the following changes.

  • Fix for clearing the VM Indicator
  • Fix for delivery of the VM Indicator
  • Various additional software fixes
  • Security enhancements

You can wait for OTA update to reach your Nexus device or download the update from the official OTA URLs (given below) and flash it using this guide (not recommended for newbies).

Nexus 5 are released all-over the world simultaneously unless there is carrier involvement, which isn’t the case with India.. However all updates are released in phases, so not all get the update at the same time..
