Advertisements

Motorola has announced that the open-source bits of Moto G firmware are now available on its SourceForge page. You will find the source files for the kernel as well as other essential and GPL portions of the system on SourceForge.

These components will help developers in developing custom firmware for this budget smartphone. Although high-end smartphones traditionally see more third-party development but given the expected popularity of Moto G, we can expect to see some serious development.

To remind you, Moto G is the first budget smartphone from Motorola, which was been developed after the Google acquisition. It is currently on sale in Brazil, United States, and select European market. It will go on sale in India and other Asian countries next month.
