Google is hosting a press event later today, where the company will be sharing updates about its Google+ social network. The company has not revealed any details about what we can expect to see but we are expecting to hear more about the upcoming Hangouts Android app update, which will include SMS/ MMS integration.
As any Hangouts app update will be available to majority of Android users regardless of the operating system version (except v2.2 or below users, which are in minority), it can very well be announced today and there is no reason to unveil it at the Android 4.4 Kitkat release event, which is also expected sometime this week.
The event will be streamed live on Google+.

one can’t expect nexus 5, android 4.4 aka kitkat at a press release right? who knows?
