HTC hints at an upcoming tablet and a wearable device

HTC is reportedly working on a tablet and a wearable device, as it looks to expand beyond smartphones. It is not the first time the company is planning to launch a tablet, it released two tablets – Flyer and Jetstream – back in 2011 but has since stayed away from the segment.

HTC has not revealed on when it plans to release this upcoming tablet but the company co-founder Cher Wang told Financial Times that it will be ‘nice and disruptive,’ when it arrives.

Similarly, the company’s wearable plans are also a mystery right now but the company seems to be pretty excited about the segment.

Wearable technology is “a critical segment for us”, HTC CEO Peter Choice told FT. “It matches what we do today as a mobile experience overall. That is one area we are excited about.”

The company is also looking to focus more on mid-range smartphones but the not so great consumer response to HTC One Mini should help the company in better understanding this segment.
