Motorola’s operating loss is bigger than Q3, 2012’s $192 million but is better than Q2, 2013’s $342 million. “The total revenues of Motorola unit were $1.18 billion compared to $1.78 billion in the third quarter of 2012,” Google noted in a press release.
The Moto X maker clearly has a long way to go before generating any profit for Google.
Motorola’s continued losses come as Google posted great quarterly results and its profit rose 36.5 per cent to $2.97 billion. The search giant reported consolidated revenues of $14.89 billion for the third quarter, an increase of 12% year-on-year basis.
“Google had another strong quarter with $14.9 billion in revenue and great product progress,” said Larry Page, CEO of Google. “We are closing in on our goal of a beautiful, simple, and intuitive experience regardless of your device.”
