Intel to launch cheaper Bay Trail tablet processors in Q2, 2014: Report

According to a report in Digitimes, Intel is planning to launch entry-level Bay Trail processors for Android tablets in the second quarter of next year.  As per the publication sources, these processors will be priced between $15-20, which is about $12 cheaper than the existing Bay Trail processors.

Intel seems to have understood that it is the cheaper Android tablets that are going to sell as high-end model continue to fail against Apple iPad. The success of Nexus 7, Kindle Fire and other such tablets is a proof of this.

“Although Intel has already offered subsidies for its Bay Trail-T processors including Atom Z3740 and Z3770 at US$32 and US$37 and another 10% off for bulk purchase, they are still less competitive in pricing compared to ARM-based quad-core processors,” Digitimes noted.

The specifications of these upcoming processors are unknown at this point.
