Alcatel has announced a new smartphone in its One Touch series earlier today. Dubbed as One Touch Idol Alpha, the new Android phone comes with some interesting additions like translucent edges on the top and bottom of the phone, which light up to signify charging state or if there is a new notification.

“IDOL ALPHA takes creativity to a new level with translucent edges, which illuminate in various modes such as charging, video, notifications, and more to give a smarter experience,” the company noted in a press release.

Alcatel One Touch Idol Alpha features a 4.7-inch 720p HD display and is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core processor (probably from MediaTek or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 200). Other specs of the phone include Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, 12.1MP rear camera, and 1.3MP front camera.

In addition, Alcatel OT Idol Alpha comes with 16GB of storage, 1GB of RAM, 2000 mAh battery.

There is no word on the availability or pricing of the phone at this moment but we expect to hear more about it as soon as the IFA trade fair begins.
