Amazon working on an Android gaming console: Report

Advertisements

After Google, now we are hearing that Amazon is also working on a gaming console powered by Android OS. The new console will reportedly be released before the end of this year, notes Game Informer.

According to the site, sources have told them Amazon will be leveraging the existing gaming titles available in its Appstore. The console will also come with a dedicated game controller.

There are no other details available at this point but it isn’t really surprising that Amazon wants to enter the lucrative casual gaming console market.

We could see the announcement of new gaming console alongside the next-generation Kindle Fire tablets that are also expected to appear in Q4, 2013.

In related news, MediaTek has reportedly landed orders for its MT8135 quad-core chip from Amazon for the company’s entry-level Kindle Fire tablets. Although MediaTek has dismissed these report, Chinese publication Economic Daily News (EDN) seem certain about this development.
