Advertisements

Samsung has started rolling out Android 4.2.2 update for Galaxy S II Plus smartphone, making it one of the first Samsung phones to get the update. The update is currently live in Germany and can be downloaded over-the-air or via Samsung Kies application.

Carrying the build number XXUBMG8, the update bumps Android version from 4.1 to 4.2 on the smartphone.

There is no official change-log available right now but being Android 4.2 based update, you can expect to see support for lock-screen widgets, notification shade toggles, user interface improvements and performance enhancements.

There is no word on the update release outside Germany at this point but we expect to see the roll-out in more markets over the next few weeks.

In related news, some reports suggest that the original Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone will not be getting any more major Android updates and it would be stuck to Android 4.1.2.
