Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to skip Android 4.2.2 update: Australian telco

Looks like the recent rumour about Samsung Galaxy Note 2 skipping Android 4.2.2 for Android 4.3 was true.

According to a listing on software updates page of Australian telecom operator Telstra, Samsung has reportedly decided to update Note II directly to a newer version of Android rather than Android 4.2.2.

“Samsung have elected globally to skip the 4.2.2 update for this device and will instead go to a newer version of Android. No schedule has been provided for this update,” Telstra writes.

As this is not coming directly from Samsung, we cannot take it as the official word but it is a strong indication as telecom operators always have information about device software updates and they are directly involved in the process.

Earlier, a blog had noted that Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 will not be getting Android 4.2.2 update and will directly move to Android 4.3.

There is no word on when the newer update will be released but we hope to hear something from Samsung soon after the Android 4.3 announcement, which is expected on July 24.
