The company revealed that developer can mark their apps for inclusion in Google Play for Education directly via Google Play Developer Console. However, unlike normal Android apps in Google Play, these educational apps will need to pass a review.
“Marking your app identifies it as targeted for the US K-12 educational market and queues it for evaluation by a third-party network of educators. These educators perform a first-pass qualification of apps, assigning the appropriate subject, grade, and common core standards metadata, while evaluating whether they meet the Google Play for Education criteria for classroom use,” Pratip Banerji from Google Play for Education team noted in a blog post.
Google also revealed that it is conducting series of pilots before the full-blown launch; so if you are submitting your app for inclusion in Google Play for Education now, it will reach the key influencers in education community.
