Motorola’s much talked about Moto X smartphone in back in news. The phone might have already been confirmed by Motorola, but hardly anything was known about it until now. Thanks to credible leaker evleaks, we have the key specifications of this phone.

From the first look itself, you will realize that Moto X is not really going to compete with the likes of HTC One, Galaxy S4 or even Sony Xperia Z.

Moto X’s 1.7GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro MSM8960T processor, which is also present in the likes of Xperia SP, is not really a top of the line performer. The 720p displays have become common in mid-range offerings. Unless that 10MP camera is really good, this is going to be another non-flagship feature of the phone. 2GB RAM is however good and should help out in the snappiness of the phone.

Overall, these specs are not of a high-end smartphone, they might not be bad but Motorola seems to be going for good mid-range offering, which can be priced well.

I might get satisfied with these specs, but given the general expectations with the phone and all the hype generated by Google or Mototola executives, with these specs, the phone is going to disappoint a lot of consumers.

To remind you, Moto X is set of be released sometime this summer.

  1. all that hype in vain.. disappointment all over.. a quad core would have been a saver..

  2. Have to agree with Ron, very disappointed indeed…I was considering this phone as a contender for the nexus 5, guess that’s definitely out of the picture now.

    1. Chances of Motorola powering Nexus 5 is almost zero. It is too big a risk for Google. They cannot afford to upset their OEM partners

  3. Canvas 4 teased few hours during Indo Pak match, where is the news , even Micromax has also updated their fb page 🙂

  4. Not even as powerful as LG/Google Nexus4, let alone S4 or ONE…. What happened Google???

Even its just little more powerful than Motorola RazrHD, introduced in 2012

  5. This Looks decent to me.. Cos Google will price this arnd 320-350$.. So this is the best phone u can get for ~20K

BTW, It doesnt mean Quadcore are faster than Dual core..

“1.7Ghz Dual core MSM8960 Sanpdragon Pro” is FASTER than
“1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 MSM8225Q” AND “1.2GHz quad core MediaTek processor”

    1. You are correct that the MSM8960 is faster than MSM8225Q, and the MediaTek processors however the fact that they are quad cores means that they can multi-task much better which common for phones now days. Which in the end means that the quad core phones will perform better for heavy users (such as pocket-gamers) than the dual core even if the Core clock (1.7Ghz/1.2Ghz in this case) is faster.

      1. That’s not really true. Intel’s single core in RAZR i kicked GS3’s quadcore easily in mutlitasking.

Android, and any other mobile OS, still has a long way to go, and fewer stronger cores still perform the best. For gaming, the GPU power is more interesting, which can easily be the same on single, dual or higher number of cores.
