Wikipad is back in news and this time with a release date. The company was earlier supposed to launch a 10-inch gaming tablet, but that was discontinued before it could land in stores due to some issues. Wikipad then announced the 7-inch version, which is now ready to go on sale.

Wikipad today revealed that the new Wikipad gaming tablet will be available in the United States beginning June 11. It will be sold at Walmart.com, BestBuy.com, and Tiger Direct. The company also announced that UK and global release will be happening sometime this summer.

For those of you unaware of Wikipad, it is basically a seven-inch Android tablet with detachable game controller cradle.  It packs Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 16GB of internal storage, microSD card slot and 2MP front camera. It runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

“The launch of the Wikipad 7 tablet signals a transformative turning point in the direction of the mobile gaming industry. Wikipad’s tablet combines the latest range of features found in a premium Android tablet together with the unrivaled console video game experience only available with a gamepad,” said Matthew Joynes, Chairman of Wikipad Inc.

According to Wikipad, the tablet buyers will get access to apps and games from Google Play, PlayStation Mobile games and TegraZone.
