Samsung had unveiled two variants of Galaxy S 4 smartphone at the New York announcement – one with 1.6GHz octa-core Exynos 5 processor and other with 1.9GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor. Snapdragon 600 powered models were initially expected only to be released in regions with LTE networks but now an ETNews report indicates that even other regions could see the Snapdragon powered S4 smartphones.
Samsung LSI division, which is responsible for producing Exynos processors, had some issues with Exynos 5 Octa processors, so the division has not been able to produce sufficient number of chips.
Samsung cannot have issues with quality of Galaxy S 4 smartphone. If any of the problematic Exynos 5 Octa powered S4 units reached market, it could turn out to be a marketing mess for the company. So, the Korean manufacturer has decided to put Snapdragon on 70 per cent of the initial Galaxy S 4 supply.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chip is a tried and tested one and is also powering LG’s Optimus G Pro and HTC One smartphones.
To remind you, Samsung Galaxy S 4 also comes with 5-inch full HD Super AMOLED display, 2GB RAM, 13MP rear camera, Android 4.2.2, 2MP front camera and 2600 mAh battery.
