The Korean manufacturer noted in a press release that for the last two months, it has been selling one L-series smartphone every second. LG currently retails six Android smartphones in its L-series including Optimus L3 (single and dual-SIM versions), L5 (single and dual-SIM versions), L7 and L9.
LG is hoping to sell45 million L-series smartphones this year thanks to the recently launched L-series II smartphones.
“The success of the Optimus L Series is testament to our belief all along that there is indeed a market for well-balanced smartphones that represent individuals’ unique tastes,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG’s mobile business.
“The new Optimus L SeriesII expands upon the design philosophy of the original series so we’re quite confident that we’ll have another hit on our hands,” he added.
LG still is a long way behind Apple and Samsung, which account for over 50pc of global smartphone sales.
