It will be the first time for Micromax to sell a phone from its official website. There is no word on broader availability of the Canvas HD right now.
Micromax A116 is the new company flagship Android smartphone that comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, 5-inch 720p HD display and 1.2GHz quad-core processor. The smartphone also features dual-SIM connectivity, 8MP rear camera and front camera.
Canvas HD also packs 1GB RAM, 4GB of internal storage and microSD card slot. The phone is set to go on sale starting February 14.
Micromax A116 will be joining company’s already selling phablets like A110 Canvas 2, A100 Canvas and A101.
Our Take:
At this pricing, Micromax A116 is certainly a pretty good deal and for anyone planning to grab decently featured Android phone uder INR 15K, A116 Canvas HD is worth considering.

@Ankush, please don’t assume anything beforehand. Have you used this device? Have you read/seen full review about this device anywhere? Do you know that Micromax has improved leaps and bounds? This is their 1st device with 1 GB RAM. This is the 1st device ever which features a Mediatek Quad core processor. Give the brand a chance to grow. I m proud to see an Indian company trying its best to make a mark on global tech front! Hence, a sincere request to not to discourage anyone buying this device unless you have concrete proof against the device.

That’s lame. You should be aware of the fact that all these cheap android phones flooding the Indian market under different Indian brand names are just rebranded chinese phones!

Zero R&D? Micromax’s minimal customization over Android is actually better than those of competitor’s customization. Also, for your information, everything, ENTIRE tech world is manufactured in China! Even iPhone is manufactured in China. That doesn’t mean that every phone is a Chinese rip-off/rebrand. If you have followed Micromax closely, you would know that they have a strategic alliance with Mediatek and they are actually procuring processors from them and manufacturing the device on their own! Also, the processor in question has actually fared well amongst competition (youtube it)! This is the first phone with Mediatek quadcore processor, how can it be a rebranded chinese phone? lol..seriously, think b4 u comment!
MMX have studied the market well and Samsung is actually fearing MMX ..this is evident in recent price cuts and launch of galaxy grand (stupid move at that price point). High time people change their perception towards MMX. At the same time I also agree that MMX has a long way to go, hope to c good progress over next couple of years.

I dont deny its a good phone but what pissed me was that i had issues which Micromax indirectly told cant be resolved:
1. Phone reboots (its rare but it does, searched online tried many fixes but all in vain)
2. The camera is bad, there is no debate here. Other 10k phone i have seen/used have much better image quality (Tipo, Ace, Lenovo P700i)
3. Network/call issue, it just drops calls sometimes for no reason (This is that really pissed my off)
4. It lags… not a big issue but it lags out of box without adding apps (that too having a dual-core, here is where u need good R&D team)
Not only me… most ppl using it face these issues but here ppl dont mind coz of their ‘chalta hai’ attitude
plz don discourage indian brand.. They are far better now.. Plz plz by only desi product for becoming our country a one of the super powers in the world.. More over this, canvas HD can even compete with Samsung galaxy grand.. So dont blash without using it.. Hail Indian..

Dear frnds this is one of best launch of indian mobile and encourage to support…consider the condition of samsung four year before..it was considered as lowest ranked mobile phones..so it is good time for us that micro maxx has improved a lot…and use swadeshi product and strenthen the economy…

for everyone here..Yes its true that mmx just imports chinese phones & remand them as mmx..same is done by Q MOBILE in pakistan..& a company in germany…..these may have extraordinary specs BUT ALAS! very low quality & tweaks…in short SAMSUNG Is the king of modern smartphones (besides I use a nokia bcoz can’t afford samsung out of my pocket money)..

Micromax is good phone company. I am using M2 mobile and it is fell down from 6 to 10 times, still it is working. But android phonse are rebranded chinese phones and this is true. Example Canvas 2 A110 is a rebranded of Beidou Chi Chinese brand. And please don’t compare Micromax with samsung. Samsung is good quality and Micromax is cheap and best.
Ankus… iphone.samsung & htc are also made in china but desinge by own..similarly for micromaxx…they are also set r&d center…bcoz..samsung is also poor company bfore 5 year…but they are improved..bcoz of they copying thing from iphone…but they done well..due 2 only android..but uptill now..not even single phone have good build quility like htc…my exp says that..htc have better built quilty then all other phone..only weakness is there marketing policy…same mmx has a good marketing policy so they are success…canvas hv very good phone……..& it is also indian…pls give me some time they also improve service….
