Google Play now gives print magazine subscribers free digital editions

Until now, one of the major drawbacks of the Google Play Magazine subscriptions was the missing free digital edition of the existing print edition subscribers. But no more, Google Play now allows print edition subscribers to download free magazine editions after verification.

If your subscribed print edition offers such free digital copies then you can look for “Free for Print subscribers” entry under the subscribe option in a Google Play magazine listing. Google Play will then verify your print subscription and you shall be able to download free digital edition.

“If you already subscribe to a magazine title (print or digital), you may be eligible for a free subscription to its digital counterpart through Google Play. Availability of magazines offered free to print subscribers is solely at the discretion of the publisher.  To see if this is case, search Google Play on your device for the magazine, and tap Subscribe. If you see an option called Free for print subscribers, the magazine is available for free,” Google noted on the help page.

This is certainly a welcome addition and now more Android users in the US will be able to read magazines on their Android devices easily.
