A US judge rejected Samsung’s jury misconduct claim as well as Apple’s injunction bid in two separate orders earlier today.
After a jury verdict, which awarded $1.05 billion in damages to Apple, Samsung had filed a motion of a new trial alleging jury foreman was improperly biased in favour of Apple. Judge Koh rejected the claim, so Korean manufacturer cannot have a new trial, but it still will be able to appeal against the decision in a higher court.
In other news, judge Koh also denied Apple’s bid to get permanent injunctions against 26 Samsung devices, which infringe Apple’s patents. According to the Judge, Apple had not presented enough evidence to show that its patented features drove consumer demand for the entire iPhone, reported Reuters.
“The phones at issue in this case contain a broad range of features, only a small fraction of which are covered by Apple’s patents,” Koh wrote in her ruling.
