It might not be Jelly Bean, but Sony has released new and updated software version based Android 4.0 for select Xperia 2012 smartphones. The Japanese manufacturer noted on the official product blog that new software brings bug fixes and performance tweaks.

The Xperia smartphones getting the new Ice Cream Sandwich builds are Sony Xperia P, Xperia U, Xperia sola and Xperia go. As always, the update will be rolled-out in batches region-wise and it might take days to weeks for it to reach your device, so don’t lose patience.

The new update will include improvements to: stability, Wi-Fi, tethering/portable hotspot, camera (capture and playback), NFC and Messaging functions of the smartphones.

The software update will be available both over-the-air as well as via PC Companion or Bridge for Mac utilities, which can be downloaded from company support website.
