Samsung, LG to launch 1080p full HD smartphones in first half of 2013: Report

After HTC recently revealed the first 1080p smartphone J Butterfly in Japan, Korean giants Samsung and LG are also reported to be working on full HD smartphones that will debut in the first half of next year.

Korean publication MK News is reporting that Samsung will release smartphones with full HD AMOLED display; on the other hand, LG seems to be going to for full HD LCD display in its smartphones.

LG Display had earlier showcased a five-inch display panel with a density of 440 ppi for smartphones at an exhibition and it is likely to supply the same panel to LG Electronics for the full HD smartphones, adds MK news. Similarly, Samsung will be getting the FHD display panels from Samsung Display.

Another Korean smartphone maker Pantech is also said to be working on full HD smartphones, which are likely to be released in early 2013.

Outside of Korea, apart from HTC, we have only heard about Sony, which seems to be working on a smartphone codenamed C650X Odin that will features a 5-inch full HD display.

There are no other details available about these devices right now. We hope to hear more about them soon.
