Asus Padfone 2 won’t reach Australia or UK before 2013

Asus’s recently announced Padfone successor won’t be launched in Australia or UK markets this year. Padfone 2, which is schedule to go on sale in several European and Asian countries before year-end, will be released in in UK early next year, reports Techradar.

“We will definitely be getting it early next year. As to [exactly] when I can’t say, but we’ll hopefully have some more details before the end of this year,” Asus UK technical PR Adam King told Techradar.

Similarly, Asus Australia revealed that Padfone 2 won’t get Aussie release until 2013.

“It [the Padfone 2] will be coming, but the first Padfone launched not long ago so we will need to leave a bit of room for it. It is the head office’s decision. We will need to get the telcos to test it here as they work slightly different to rest of the world,” ASUS spokesperson told PC World Australia.

Originally announced last week, Asus Padfone 2 features 4.7-inch 720p display, 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, 13-megapixel camera and Android 4.0. The Padfone station or the dock comes with 10-inch display, and 5,000 mAh battery.

Asus is selling the device for €799 ($1,040) (32GB) and €899 ($1,170) (64GB) in Europe.
