We crossed-checked the same by creating a merchant account for us in Google Checkout and the process went smoothly, so yes, it is final and now you can sell paid apps. This news comes less than a month after Google mistakenly added India to its paid app list, only to remove it later.
This is certainly great news after we reported yesterday that Indians will also be able to buy paid apps from Google Play in Indian Rupees starting October 25. Company reiterated the same for developers in the blog post.
“Along with seller support, we’re also adding buyer’s currency support for India. We encourage developers everywhere to visit your Developer Console as soon as possible to set prices for your products in Indian Rupees and other new currencies (such as Russian Rubles).”
To start selling paid applications in Google Play store, all you have to do is create a Google Play dev account, if you don’t already have one, and then create a merchant account in Google Checkout.
We hope that this incentive brings more developers forward to create even cooler apps and games.
