Firefox 16 lands in Google Play; brings reader mode, share menu

Mozilla has just released the Firefox 16 for Android devices along with the usual Windows, Mac and Linux. The Android version brings several new changes apart from a number of bug fixes.

According to Mozilla, Firefox for Android now includes a reader mode, which is stripped down and distraction free version of a webpage.  The update also includes a new Share menu that will allow users to send tabs to desktop/mobile devices through the “Firefox Sync” option.

Here is the full change-log

  • Reader Mode implemented for easy readability – just tap the book icon next to the URL
  • Use the “Share” menu item to send tabs to desktop/mobile devices through the “Firefox Sync” option
  • tel: URLs crafted to maliciously wipe your phone can no longer be opened
  • Various performance improvements around JavaScript garbage collection
  • CSS3 Animations, Transitions and Gradients unprefixed in Firefox 16
  • FIXED: * Kyocera Echo stability issues
