Advertisements

With just a couple of hours remaining for the Amazon press event to begin in Los Angeles, reports from The Verge  suggest that the company may announce its smartphone at the event.

The Verge strongly claims that various sources have confirmed the device which will run on a variant of the Kindle Fire’s Android-based operating system. The device is still unfinished, so not many details are expected even if its announced.

As indicated by earlier reports, the Kindle smartphone will run on a forked version of Android 4.0 and feature maps powered by Nokia.

According to more recent reports, the company may launch two tablet versions of the Kindle Fire, one of them being ad-supported. While one tablet will be completely new, the other will be a slightly improved version of the existing Kindle Fire tablet.

We’ll get you more details once the event unfolds.
