Sony has just announced the launch of Xperia Ion in the country as well as cleared the prevailing confusion about the presence of Ice Cream Sandwich on the device. Yes, Xperia Ion comes with Android 4.0.

The smartphone has been priced at INR 36,999 (MRP) in the country and now available. It comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 4.6-inch scratch resistant 1280×720p display, 1GB RAM, 12.1MP camera, front camera, 16GB internal memory, microSD card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI, NFC and 1900mAh battery.

Sony Xperia Ion was spotted on Snapdeal.com a few days ago for a price-tag for INR 35,999, so we can expect that to be the street price of the phone.

Company has also revealed that it plans to launch Xperia Tipo in the country soon.
