Google “aware” of missing Play Store purchased app debacle; diligently investigating the cause

It seems like the Google Play Store issues just keep on piling up, don’t they? Over the past few days, many Android users (myself included) have encountered a troublesome bug, which prevents applications that have already been purchased from showing up in the “My Apps” tab on the Android Market Play Store application on their device(s). Smartphones and tablets alike have been riddled with the error, forcing many users to cry out in outrage.

According to The Verge, Google is already aware of the issue and investigating the cause. By our watch, the search engine giant probably has a matter of minutes before some ticked-off Android owner decided to open another lawsuit against them, similar to the two California residents suing Google for “faulty” apps and the Play Store refund policy.

On the “Known Issues” page, it notes that “we’re aware of reports from some users that several applications are missing under ‘My Apps’ on their devices, and we’re currently looking into the issue.” So, at very least, it’s nice for those affected by this problem to see that Google is working on it.

On a side note from my own personal experience, I managed to clear the issue up by re-flashing the GApps file for my device and that cleared it up right away. Obviously, this will require you to have a rooted device and custom recovery to try my method and I cannot guarantee that it will work for you. For those stuck on non-rooted phones, it looks like you’re going to have to wait for Google to clear up the issue.

Have you experienced this issue? Drop us a comment in the thread to vent your frustration (respectfully, of course).

  1. Yes the problem just appeared on my phones. I went to update and it gave me an error 941 so i tried to uninstall update and clear data to see if it may fix it. It seemed to fix it I could update but purchased apps now require payment again, also as soon as they push the update again all the apps are gone. I tried to repurchase an app it seemed to start to download then it was canceled and it told me to refer to my google wallet account. It seems to be all screwed up.
