Sony releases new ICS beta ROMs for Xperia smartphones

Advertisements

Sony keeps surprising us and is clearly sticking up with its strategy of being developer friendly. In the same bid, Sony Mobile has released the beta Ice Cream Sandwich builds for select Xperia smartphones.

Today’s builds include a lot of improvements from the Alpha ROMs that were released back in December, but still these are not ready for the prime-time. Sony Mobile is expecting advanced users to test these builds and give feedback to the company.

While the basic stuff is working; Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Google Apps and select other features are still being perfected. These pre-release versions can now be downloaded from their dev website and flashed using Fastboot tool.

The smartphones with beta releases include Xperia arc S, Xperia Ray, and neo V. Sony Mobile has also released the change-log from the previously Alpha build, which you can check out below:

  • Updated UI
  • Working GSM modem and FM radio
  • Updated email client.
  • Quick dial
