Google Docs for Android update bring real-time collaboration

Advertisements

Google has pushed a major update for its official Docs Android app today. This update brings real-time collaboration on files, rich-text editing as well as refined interface to the app.

Same as the desktop version of Google Docs, the Android app will now support real-time editing by multiple participants. You will able to see the live-edits or even join them by simply tapping on the doc.

This new update also brings much better interface including pinch-to-zoom in docs to focus on specific parts of docs in the app. Android users will now also be able to add rich-text formatting in the documents.

Quick view of the changelog:

  • Create, view and edit Google documents with our new Android editor
  • Rich text formatting (bold, italics, underline, font color, background color)
  • Layout tools (bulleted lists, numbered lists, indentation)
  • Real-time collaboration – see edits from others in seconds
  • Cursor presence and highlighting
