Xing Android app updated, brings ICS & NFC support

Advertisements

Popular German professional networking website Xing has released a minor update for its official Android app. Dubbed as version 3.5.1; this update adds a new feature to the app – Xing Beam, which allows connecting to other professionals via NFC.

Based on Android Beam in Ice Cream Sandwich, Xing Beam gives Xing members the option to add contacts using near field communication (NFC). It is activated when two XING members call up their XING profile on their Android device and then hold the two devices next to each other.

“We’re really happy about launching the new Beam feature as it underlines the importance and value of mobile devices here at XING. Right now about 20% of our traffic comes from mobile devices and we’re working hard to make sure we continue to offer our mobile users an enhanced networking experience.”

– Jörg Malang, VP Product at XING AG.
