Sprint releases updates for HTC Evo 4G, Evo Design 4G & Samsung Epic 4G

Sprint is rolling out OTA software updates for three of the Android smartphones in its portfolio. These smartphones are HTC Evo Design 4G, Evo 4G and Samsung Epic 4G. These updates are also expected to remove Carrier IQ tracking software from the HTC phones.

Update Details:

HTC EVO Design 4G Software Update

Version: 2.12.651.5

Change-log:

  • Security Update
  • Updated Peep client (to align with Twitter)
  • Updated Sprint Zone client
  • Battery life improvements
  • 3LM Enterprise Tool Access (no user interface changes)

You can manually initiate the update now by going to Menu > Settings > System updates > HTC software update or you will automatically get the notification on January 24.

HTC EVO 4G Software Update

Version: 4.67.651.3

Change-log:

  • Security Update
  • Updated Peep client ( to align with Twitter)
  • Battery life improvements

Samsung Epic 4G Software Update

Version: EL30

Change-log:

  • Security update
  • Speaker feedback fix
  • The QIK and Asphalt 5 applications are no longer preloaded.  When opening the applications using the application icon, you will be redirected to the Android market to download and install the full application.
