Asus Transformer Prime has a locked bootloader, company faces backlash

Android manufacturers are increasingly becoming irrational and fail to understand the user pulse. In one such incident, it has come to light that the recently launched quad core tablet Asus Transformer Prime has a locked bootloader, which would seriously hamper the custom ROM development for the tablet.

According to reports at XDA, Asus has used a 128bit AES encryption to secure bootloader on the tablet similar to HTC’s approach, which later decided to undo its mistake. As soon as the news of locked bootloader was out, several users have bombarded Acer North America Facebook page, Twitter to show their anger. An example below:

Asus is already dealing with reports of patchy GPS, and poor Wi-Fi range, and with locked bootloader, they are going to see a sizable reduction in their expected sales. It seems company has been hasty in trying to be the first to launch a quad core tablet and it is not turning out too well.
