Karbonn to launch its first Android phone ‘A1’ soon

Karbonn Mobiles is expected to launch its first Android smartphone in the Indian market soon. Dubbed as ‘A1’, it is an Android 2.2 powered smartphone and would be priced at INR 6,999.

“We want to revolutionise the highly popular Android market in India. With a price point of sub-Rs 10,000, the handset is set to take smartphones to new segments of the population,” Karbonn Mobiles Executive Director Shashin Devsare told PTI.

While the specifications of the smartphone are still unknown, it is expected to come with the full suite of Google apps along with Market support. An official announcement should be made pretty soon.

Karbonn has planned more Android smartphones after A1; company will be releasing three more Android smartphones in 6K to 10K bracket by Diwali to capture the festival shopping crowd.
