AT&T announces Gingerbread for all Android devices released this year

AT&T has announced that all the post-paid Android smartphones on its network that were released this year will get Android 2.3 update. This is not all along with the 2011 phones, Samsung Captivate owners will also be lucky to get Gingerbread.

Smartphones getting the update:

  • HTC Inspire 4G
  • LG Phoenix
  • Motorola ATRIX™ 4G
  • Pantech Crossover
  • Samsung Captivate
  • Samsung Captivate 4G
  • Samsung Infuse 4G

These updates will be available OTA, or by PC Companion softwares depending on the devices.

What does Gingerbread bring?

Gingerbread delivers a number of improvements, such as user interface refinements, refined copy/paste functionality and speed enhancements. The upgrade offers improved power management that offers a more active role in managing applications in addition to an improved on-screen keyboard with multi-touch support that makes typing faster and more accurate.
