According to latest Android platform versions data, Android 2.3 is now present on over 18.5% of the total Android devices, and slowly gaining more market share with more manufacturers updating their devices to Gingerbread. The launch of smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S II with Gingerbread on-board is also a factor in the rise of Gingerbread.

On the other hand, Éclair is still present on over 17% of the devices and is likely to stay around that number as Motorola, and Sony Ericsson have dumped quite a few smartphone models running on Android 2.1.

Honeycomb is still limited to less than 1% of the total Android devices, but with the launch of Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Huawei MediaPad – the number is expected to go up in coming weeks.
