HTC buys S3 Graphics for USD 300 million

HTC today announced that it has bought US based S3 Graphics for $300 million. Company stated that this acquisition will help it in enhancing its multimedia capabilities. S3 Graphics is a California-based graphics technology licensing firm.

HTC will obtain S3 Graphics’ portfolio of 235 patents and pending applications from this purchase.

“S3 Graphics’ patents are highly complementary to HTC’s existing innovations and multimedia capabilities,” said HTC CEO Peter Chou.
