By now you must have heard that Samsung today launched the Galaxy S II in the Indian Market. Well, at the launch event, we had quite some time to play with this amazing device, so here are our first impressions.

As you know, this thing is a beast and every swipe on its display goes like a finger in the butter. There is not even a little lag; well that’s what you get when you put in a 1.2 GHz Dual core processor.

Handling-wise, it is big and many of you like me with average hand might find it extra-large, guess that’s the downside of wanting a big display smartphone. It is indeed thin and the thinnest smartphone that you will get in the Indian market right now.

Hardware: You get the power on/off button on the right side, volume rocker is on the left, 3.5 mm headset jack on the top and the mini USB cum HDMI port is on the bottom of SGS2.

Samsung has pre-loaded a lot of its own apps and Touchwiz 4.0 is quite different from the previous version. Company will be providing local content on Readers Hub & Music Hub by partnering with third party content providers. It might take some days after the launch for you to actually use it on your phone.

Another addition to this Android flagship from Samsung is Gaming Hub; Samsung wants to capitalize on the powerful processor in the phone.  Well that’s all for now, we will soon be doing the full in-depth review of the device as soon as we get our hands on it again, till then enjoy the following pictures of our time with Samsung Galaxy S2.

What??? Samsung launched Galaxy S with Android 2.1 and now it is getting updated to Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread. What else do you want?

  5. @varun

2.2.1 (supposed to be one of the better, stable releases) never came to india and it is more than 10 days since 2.3.3 came to europe and some other countries. we still don’t know when it would actually reach here…

  6. its having ke8 firmware version…elsewhere its ke7…means its more updated….great

    1. @sarabjeet we have already reported all the official details regarding the Galaxy S II india launch. Whats the news in this.. apart from random june 2 availability, which is not official as Samsung has announced that Vodafone will launch Galaxy S II on June 3 and rest stores will get from June 9.

  7. Sorry Gauarv, I didn’t meant to offend you. I have been following all your updates on Galaxy SII on twiiter & here as well, and appreciate your work as well. I raised this post coz they just mentioned the phone wd b available even before Vodafone dates provided by Samsung.

    1. @Sarabjeet No.. No .. I am not offended. You did right in pointing this. We at our end try our best in posting the best and right available information here at AndroidOS.in. Most of the other blogs just post anything they want just to get hits, thats why I pointed out that there is no news in the link you posted.

  8. Hey thr Mr Shukla!!!
Thrz been a controversy goin’ on in many of the websites and blogs about the nfc connectivity hardware in indian version of SGS2. Some saying itz a standard feature and some saying it as Optional. SGS2’s official indian microsite and letsbuy.com dint mention anything about NFC in their features n Specs. Will u pls enlighten me on dis’ issue!!!
    Thanks in Advance.

  9. HI Gaurav

Is the indian version available through samsung’s partner letsbuy.com nfc enabled or not. Kindly confirm. I don’t want to spend so much money just to see a nfc enabled version releasing 2 months later.
