Good news for people living amidst the jam-packed streets of Kolkata. The city traffic police are planning to turn friends with your favorite Android OS.

The plan of action involves issuing traffic cops electronic devices to take fines, reported IBNLive.

“We are in the process and very soon our sergeants will have …Android-enabled phones with swipe cards so that people can pay up their fines.” Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vineet Goyal said.

Even better – the traffic police website will stream live images of the traffic on roads.

So those who have an Internet-enabled phone can get live updates of traffic in the city which will guide you about which routes to avoid.

This will make Kolkata Traffic Police the second government agency after Bihar Engineers in the country to use Android devices for its daily functions.
