Honeycomb might not reach smartphones

Advertisements

There has been quite a debate on the availability of Android 3.0 aka Honeycomb for smartphones, but it seems we have an answer for the time being. “We took the opportunity with Android 3.0 to enhance the UI, Right now it’s a tablet operating system,” said Dave Burke, Director of Engineering of Android at Google to Techradar.

Considering the level of UI change, it does really make sense to fit a tablet OS on phone. I think its better if Google keeps things separately until the OS matures. Similar feelings were showed by Dave Burke, who added that t in the future Google would like to unite the numbers systems [to stop Android 2.x being for smartphones and Android 3.x for tablets].
