Within days of Galaxy Note release in some countries, enthusiastic developers have gained root access and posted instructions for not-so-techie souls like us. There are currently many ways to root Note, but I will be describing the ODIN method in this post.
Root Galaxy Nexus [How to][Guide][Skill Level – Easy]
Want to root your Galaxy Nexus, here is a quick tutorial that will help you in achieving the root access on your Android 4.0 powered Galaxy Nexus. You will not need any ADB ninza skills for this guide, so even if you are a noob but know your way around a computer, you should be just fine.
Galaxy Nexus Root Guide:
STEP 1: First download this file (r3-galaxynexus-superboot.zip)
STEP 2: Download PdaNet and install, it installs the required drivers to work with the following steps.
STEP 3: Extract the download zip to a folder using Winzip, WinRAR, 7Zip or any compressing application of your choice.
STEP 4: Turn off your Galaxy Nexus
STEP 5: Turn on your Galaxy Nexus in Bootloader mode [How to do that – Press 'volume up' and 'volume down' and ‘power button’ at the same time] [See the image below]
Important: If you haven’t unlocked the bootloader of your Galaxy Nexus till now then go to this link and complete the steps 6 and 7, else if you are sure that the bootloader of your Galaxy Nexus is unlocked then you don’t have to worry and follow the next steps.
STEP 6: Now if you are on Windows PC, then run ‘install-superboot-windows.bat’ file in the folder that you extracted in the step 3.
That is all for you. Your Galaxy Nexus is now rooted.
STEP 7: But, if you are using Mac or Linux based PC then open a terminal window to the directory containing the extracted files, and type ‘chmod +x install-superboot-mac.sh’ and then ‘./install-superboot-mac.sh’ [FOR MAC], and type ‘chmod +x install-superboot-linux.sh’ followed by ‘./install-superboot-linux.sh’ [FOR LINUX].
You are done, enjoy. If you were able to root your Galaxy Nexus, spread the word by sharing the post with others.
If you faced any issues, report the problems at the original forum thread.
