While Xiaomi was busy announcing its new Redmi Note 13 series on January 4, Vivo India launched its flagship X100 and X100 Pro phones in the country. The two phones were initially introduced in China in November 2023 and come with up to 16GB of RAM, a MediaTek Dimensity 9300 processor, and a 6.78-inch OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Vivo has priced the X100 Pro at Rs. 90,000 for its sole 16GB RAM variant. On the other hand, the Vivo X100 carries a price tag of Rs. 64,000 for the 12GB RAM variant and Rs. 70,000 for the 16GB variant. The pre-orders are open, and sales will start January 11 via Flipkart, Vivo online store, and various major offline retailers.

As you can see, these phones are not cheap. While the X100 phones seem to justify the pricing, at least on paper, I am unsure if the two will actually find many buyers. This is because Vivo does not have the brand value to justify this kind of pricing. People will buy Apple and Samsung phones for even a lakh, but they don’t do the same for other brands, including Google. So, this launch essentially acts as an exercise in boosting the company’s brand value in the country. It’s trying to show Vivo can make fancy high-end phones with crazy features. But I don’t think even Vivo expects the X100 and X100 Pro to make any serious dent in the premium segment.

Anyway, here is a look at the specifications of the two phones if you are curious about them and want to buy them.

The X100 and X100 Pro share many features, including the 6.78-inch OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1260 x 2800 pixels resolution, Android 14 with Funtouch OS 14, and Mediatek Dimensity 9300. The two phones also feature an under-display fingerprint sensor, 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, stereo speakers, and IP68 water and dust resistance.

The differences are in the camera and battery departments. The X100 has a 5,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging, whereas the Pro model has a 5,400mAh battery with 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

On the camera front, both phones have a 50MP main shooter, but the primary camera on the X100 has an f/1.6 aperture and 1/1.49-inch sensor, the X100 Pro primary shooter carries an f/1.8 aperture and a 1/0.98-inch sensor. While the ultrawide shooter is the same 50MP unit on the two phones, they have different telephoto cameras.
