Days after launching the new Eluga A4 smartphone in the Indian market, Panasonic has launched another Android phone in the country. Like the Eluga A4, the new Eluga I5 is an entry-level smartphone. It is an upgraded version of the company’s Eluga I4, which was unveiled less than two months ago.

According to Panasonic, the Eluga I5 is now exclusively available via e-retailer Flipkart.com. It carries a price-tag of INR 6,499 and is being offered in Black and Gold colour options.

“Smartphones today have already shaped and are continuing to define our lives. Amidst this, one needs a smartphone that can be trustworthy, ensure performance or make lives simpler. The Eluga series bespeaks reliability and the latest Eluga I5is another perfect blend of innovation and elegance. It ensures top-notch performance at a value-based price,” said Pankaj Rana, Business Head – Mobility Division, Panasonic India, in a statement.

Panasonic Eluga I5 specifications

Coming to the specifics, the upcoming Eluga I5 sports a design very similar to Apple’s iPhone 6. It features a 5-inch HD display with Asahi Dragon Trail glass and is powered by MediaTek MTK6737 quad-core processor. Additionally, there is 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory and a microSD card slot in the phone. You will also get a rear fingerprint sensor, dual-SIM support and 2500 mAh battery.

On the imaging front, Panasonic has packed a 13MP rear shooter with f2.2 aperture and a 5MP selfie camera with f2.2 aperture. In terms of the operating system, the Eluga I5 runs on Android Nougat, but is unlikely to get the Oreo update. The usual connectivity options like the 4G VoLTE support are also present in the phone.

The company has also integrated its Arbo assistant in the phone. Arbo tracks your daily activities and based on that data, it offers you suggestions, making your life simpler and easier, claims Panasonic.
