As rumoured, the Android One variant of the Moto X4 smartphone on Wednesday became official. It is the first Android One smartphone to be launched in the United States and joins Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi’s Mi A1 among the Android One phones released in the recent times.
The new Moto X4 variant is being offered on Google’s Project Fi network. There is no word on availability elsewhere right now.
Moto X4 Android One pricing
According to Motorola, the Android One Moto X will cost $399 and is now on pre-order. The phone will be available in Black and Silver colours.
Additionally, Google is giving some incentives for existing Fi customers to upgrade to Moto X4 Android One. The Fi parent is giving upto $165 on trade-in for select Nexus devices, plus a $50 bonus trade-in credit if it’s done before October 5.
Moto X4 Android One specifications
Although the new version is pretty much the same as a regular Moto X4, the Android One variant lacks most of the customisations present in the standard version as well as Alexa voice assistant. However, it will still pack Motorola gestures and some display customisations.
Moto X4 Android One will run on Android 7.1 Nougat, but it will get the Oreo update before the end of 2017 and Android P (yes, the unannounced next version of Android) next year.
To remind you, other specifications of the Moto X4 include a 5.2-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 630 processor, 3,000mAh battery, and IP68 water and dust resistance. The phone also packs a dual rear camera setup with 12-megapixel and 8-megapixel sensors and a 16-megapixel selfie camera.
