Amazon has unveiled a revamped Fire HD 10 tablet, which will go on sale October 11. The new tablet is now on pre-order in countries like US, UK and Germany.
According to Amazon, Fire HD 10 will be offered in 32GB and 64GB storage variants with price-tag starting $149.99 (GBP 149.99 in UK). The e-retailers is selling the tablet in three colours – Blue, Black and Pink.
The new Fire HD 10 improves on quite a few things over the last generation including the addition of a full HD display. Another key addition to the tablet is support for handsfree Alexa voice assistant. One enabled, the handsfree mode will work by simply saying – Alexa “do this or that.” The feature won’t be available by default for the initial buyers and they will have to download software version 5.5.0.0 to enable Alexa handsfree feature.
Other features of the tablet include dual stereo speakers, 1.8GHz quad-core processor, 2-megapixel rear camera, VGA front camera, microSD card slot and 10 hours of battery life.
“For less than $150, the all-new Fire HD 10 offers a beautiful 1080p Full HD display, faster performance, more storage, and up to 10 hours of battery life,” said Kevin Keith, General Manager, Amazon Devices.
“We’re also excited to introduce Alexa hands-free for the first time on a Fire tablet. Now, you can ask Alexa to play a video, show you your calendar, dim the lights, and much more—using just your voice,” added Keith.
