HTC is reportedly planning to release an Android One smartphone in October. The company will be using the rumoured U11 Life (codename – Ocean_life) smartphone as the base, making it available in both standard version with all of HTC customisations and Android One version with limited HTC apps.

The news of the HTC Android One was revealed earlier Wednesday by Twitter user @LlabTooFeR, who has a pretty good track record with HTC leaks. Popular leakster @evleaks later confirmed the news.

First leaked back in August, HTC U11 Life will feature a 5.2-inch full HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 octa-core processor and 32GB of internal storage. The phone will also come with 16-megapixel front and rear cameras as well as a fingerprint sensor, and the usual set of connectivity options.

@LlabTooFeR notes that HTC U11 Life Android One variant will run on Android 8.0 Oreo with some Sense features like EdgeSense, USonic, Zoe and HTC Camera. It is similar to what Xiaomi did with its Android One phone Mi A1.

Other details of the phone are a mystery at this point.

HTC isn’t the only notable Android partner to be working on an Android One smartphone. It was recently leaked that Motorola will launch an Android one variant of its Moto X4 phone. The Android One variant of Moto X4 is expected to be first released in the United States.
