ZTE’s nubia Z9 is official, packs 5.2-inch FHD screen, Snapdragon 810 & 16MP camera

Nubia Z9ZTE’s sub-brand nubia on Wednesday took the wraps off the new Z9 smartphone at a press event in Beijing. The phone will be go on sale in the company’s home market China beginning May 21 and the registrations for the same are now open at nubia.cn.

Chinese smartphone vendors have increasingly shown that they can create beautiful smartphones and nubia Z9 is a clear example of it. There might be some design inspiration, but Z9 doesn’t look like a rip-off. The smartphone sports a 5.2-inch full HD display with non-existent bezel on the sides and is powered by Qualcomm’s 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor.

According to nubia, the Z9 will be released in Elite and Classic variants, which differ in the amount of RAM and on-board storage. The Elite model features 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, while the Classic version will come with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

Other specifications of the phone include 16MP f2.0 primary camera with OIS, 8MP f2.4 front shooter, 4G LTE connectivity, NFC, and USB-OTG support.

The nubia Z9 runs on Android 5.0 with nubia UI 3.0 and packs 2900 mAh battery and the usual set of connectivity options including dual-SIM support.Nubia Z9

Pricing

According to nubia, the Elite version of the Z9 will retail at 3,999 yuan and the Classic version has been priced at 3,499 yuan. The company will also launch a version of the Elite variant with fingerprint sensor, which will be avaialble at 4,499 yuan. The phone will be released in two colour options. There is no word on the global roll-out.
