LG’s G4 is one of the most leaked smartphones in the recent times. In fact, the phone was a part of a major leak from LG itself earlier this month, which revealed pretty much everything about the phone. Given the leaks, we weren’t expecting any surprises at the G4 announcement today and LG didn’t disappoint us. The official details of the G4 are all in-line with the leaks and the only new piece of information that we have been able to get from this event is the late-April availability of the smartphone.
According to LG, the new G4 will go on sale beginning April 29 in South Korea, followed by 180 markets around the world. There is no word on the pricing at this point.
Coming to the smartphone specifications, which most of you might already be aware of, the G4 sports a 5.5-inch Quad-HD (2560x1440p) IPS display and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor.
For the imaging needs, LG has packed the G4 with a 16MP f1.8 primary camera with LED flash, laser auto-focus, color-spectrum sensor and optical image stabilisation as well as an 8MP secondary camera. The phone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and comes with the company’s new UX version 4.0, which brings a number of software enhancements such as QuickShot, Gesture Interval Shot, QuickMemo+, RingID, improved Smart Notice, updated Gallery, and Smart Bulletin.
“LG UX 4.0 offers simpler, faster and more intuitive ways to use the G4 with both new and improved features that intelligently accommodate each individual user. We will continue to better understand our customers so we can continue delivering innovations for a better life through our human-centric approach,” said Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.
On the design front, LG G4 sports a sightly curved back (slim-arc design in LG’s words) with the company’s trademark rear-buttons. The phone will be offered in two choices to the consumers, G4 with plastic back and G4 with leather back. The latter is being targeted to the consumers, who want a more premium looking smartphone.
According to the company, there will be six leather-back choices (Black, Brown, Blue, Red, Yellow and Beige) and three plastic options (White, Silver and Grey).
