When Meerkat originally launched on iOS, the creators of this popular live-streaming application announced that they will soon bring an Android version. Now, as a first step in making good on their promise, Meerkat developers have opened registrations for the first public beta of their upcoming Android app. If you don’t want to wait for the stable version and love testing pre-release software, you can fill-in your details in this form and wait for instructions from the Meerkat team.
If everything goes smoothly with the beta-testing, we can expect to see an official launch of the first stable version soon. There is no official timeline for the launch, but it won’t be a long wait.
To remind you, Meerkat allows Twitter users to stream a live video to their followers. The app went viral last month, but the arrival of a Twitter-owned competitor Periscope has put a dent in its explosive growth. Periscope offers the same functionality, but also allows the replay of the previously streamed video.
Periscope is also scheduled to bring an Android version in the coming months.
