Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi had a pretty good Wednesday. The company on April 8 sold over 2 million smartphones and set a world record in the process.
Each year the company organizes a fan festival around its birthday and offers various promotions to the consumers, but this year was especially big for Xiaomi, as it was celebrating its fifth anniversary and number of markets where Mi operates has grown quite a bit. The company is currently offering its devices in a total of eight markets including India, China, and Singapore.
According to the company, during this year’s Mi Fan Festival, which was celebrated across all Xiaomi markets, it generated 2.08 bn yuan ($335 mn) in revenue and sold 2.112 million smartphones, 770,000 smart appliances, 38,600 Mi TVs and more. You can check out the full breakdown below.
The smartphone sales also helped the company in setting up a Guinness World Record for most mobile phones sold on a single online platform in 24 hours. The company noted that a total of 14.6 million consumers participated in yesterday’s sale.
