Lollipop doubles its share in latest Android distribution numbers

Google has released the latest Android platform distribution numbers and there doesn’t seem to be any surprises, however there are some notable improvements. Android 5.0 Lollipop has more than doubled its share from 1.6 percent last month to 3.3 percent this month. KitKat is another Android version, which has made some progress from 39.7 percent to 40.9 percent and the combined market share of KitKat and Lollipop has finally taken over Jelly Bean.

Rest of the Android versions continue to lose their market share except Froyo, which seems to be stagnant at 0.4 percent.

At you can see in the table above, Jelly Bean (Android 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3) now resides on 42.6 percent of all active Android devices, Ice Cream Sandwich is on 5.9 percent and Gingerbread on 6.9 percent.

Google Play Services 7.0

In related news, Google has released the Play Services version 7.0. The latest version will allow developers to build even better apps with improvements to location settings experiences, a brand new API for place information, new fitness data, automatic integration of AdMob and Google Analytics, Google Play Games, and more.
